East Macon man cut in alleged robbery attempt
An early morning knock on the door roused an east Macon man from his bed who found his neighbor bleeding on the front porch.
Roger Clay said his neighbor, identified as “Eric,” said “a couple of guys” tried to rob him at a convenience store at the corner of Emery Highway at Reese Street before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“His arm was bleeding real bad,” said Clay, who called 911 and relayed the victim’s story to the dispatcher. “I couldn’t see the cut, but I could see all the blood running down his arm.”
The man told Clay he didn’t have any money to give the alleged robbers.
Bibb County sheriff’s deputies did not appear to find any blood stains in the store parking lot or on the street leading to the victim’s house.
As the victim was taken away in an ambulance, deputies were scouring streets in Fort Hill for evidence of the crime.
Anyone with information is asked to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-86-CRIME.
