Two charged in vehicle theft

Bibb County deputies responding to a call of a burglary in progress Sunday ended up charging two men with stealing a van.

According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, a call came in about 11:30 a.m. that a home was being burglarized in the 3600 block of Lyons Street.

The first deputy to arrive on the scene saw a blue Honda Odyssey van pulled out of sight from the road. As the deputy walked toward the van, three men ran from the vehicle and into the woods.

The deputy chased them but lost sight on West Ormond Terrace. The deputy gave a lookout, and a second deputy located two suspects on a path from West Ormond Terrance.

Bobby Haynes, 19, and Ibn Andrews, 19, both of Macon, were taken to the sheriff’s office for questioning. They were later charged with theft by taking in reference to the van. Andrews was also charged with a probation violation.

Haynes was released on $4,050 bond and Andrews remains in jail, also with a $4,050 bond.
