Macon man pleads guilty in rape of 16-year-old
A 16-year-old girl wore headphones as she walked in Macon's Pleasant Hill neighborhood at dusk April 6, 2014.
She didn't hear the man, a man who knew her family, as he came up behind her, prosecutor Dorothy Hull said during a Monday hearing in Bibb County Superior Court.
"He drug her to a vacant house and raped her," Hull said.
The man, 27-year-old De'Andre Ricardo Taylor, pleaded guilty to rape Monday and was sentenced to 20 years, 10 of them in prison. He won't be eligible for parole.
After his release from prison, Taylor will be subject to sex offender conditions of probation.
Taylor's attorney said he was pleading guilty because it was in his best interest.
Taylor didn't speak on his own behalf before being sentenced.
After the assault, the girl told a family member what happened and police were called, Hull said.
People who lived near the vacant house also called 911, reporting hearing a female screaming, she said.
The girl had dirt in her hair and scratches consistent with her description of the assault, Hull said.
Despite Taylor's claim that he hadn't seen the girl on the day of the rape, authorities found fibers from the girl's clothing on his clothing, she said.
