Perry man beaten in head with metal pipe in Macon robbery

Three people were charged with robbery by force after a man was struck in the head with a metal pipe and robbed Sunday night at Cobble Hill Apartments on Rice Mill Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

A 34-year-old Perry man went to the apartment complex just before 8 p.m. to visit with 21-year-old Keaira Robinson. Three men approached him, and he was beaten and robbed of his cellphone, keys and wallet, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The assailants took the man's car, which later was spotted by deputies on Rice Mill Road at Pio Nono Avenue, according to the release.

After a brief pursuit, the driver crashed the stolen car on Broadway at Raines Avenue. The occupants were taken into custody after they tried to run, according to the release.

The driver, Shainika Sanders, Jacorey Martavous Holloway and Robinson, all 21 and of Macon, were charged with robbery by force, according to the sheriff's office.

The injured Perry man was taken to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition Monday.
