Online scam targets English bulldog lovers, claims it's based in Perry
An Internet scam targeting people who are looking to buy English bulldogs has caught the attention of the Perry Police Department as numerous victims from out of state have called in after being conned out of thousands of dollars, according to a scam alert posted on the department's Facebook page.
The alleged scammers running the website, www.brandienglishbulldogpuppies.com, are using Perry as the address for their illegitimate business and will only correspond via email or text messaging, the post said. The website does not list a phone number or an address.
Numerous people from out of state have called the department reporting they've lost thousands of dollars by sending MoneyGrams and never receiving the dogs, the post said. The website operators refused to give a physical address to buyers and became upset when one buyer wanted to visit in person, the post said.
