A 39-year-old man was arrested and charged with dogfighting and 11 counts of felony animal cruelty Wednesday after authorities discovered numerous injured and malnourished dogs living in deplorable conditions at a home on Log Cabin Drive on Wednesday morning.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, Martin Luther King allegedly left the dogs at 3541 Log Cabin Drive when he was evicted in November, according to the release. At a date not specified in the news release, the property got a new manager, who told deputies that King continued to say he would remove the dogs from the property but never did.

Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare officers removed all the dogs from the home and took them to the vet to be checked for injuries and diseases, the release said.

King is being held at the Bibb County jail with a bond of $12,850, according to online jail information.
