Decatur man arrested after allegedly stealing from store, then returning
A Decatur man accused of stealing blank checks and other items from a Forsyth business Monday returned to the same store Wednesday, where he was recognized and arrested, according to a Facebook post by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Anthony A. Butler, 54, is charged with felony conspiracy to commit forgery, theft by taking, driving with a suspended license and concealing the identity of a vehicle, according to the post.
Butler was with another man when he returned to J&K Services on Harold G. Clarke Parkway on Wednesday. The men asked the business owner to sign a document so they could show Butler's probation officer he was trying to get a job, according to the post. The business owner took them inside and called the sheriff's office.
Deputies agreed that the man on surveillance video from Monday's theft matched the man in the store, and Butler was arrested, the post said.
