Macon teen shot in gunfire at party near Lake Wildwood

A 19-year-old Macon man was shot early Friday at a party in the gated community of Lake Wildwood in northwest Bibb County.

About 12:30 a.m., Macon-Bibb 911 received a report of gunfire in the 1100 block of Roundtable Lane, which is just west of the lake.

About 10 minutes later, Tyree Welch showed up at Coliseum Northside Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Witnesses told deputies they heard one shot before party-goers ran.

Overnight there was confusion about the location of the shooting, and an earlier news release erroneously reported that Welch was shot at a fast-food restaurant on Zebulon Road.
