No decision on Bishop clemency bid Wednesday
The state parole board considered a clemency bid on behalf of condemned killer Joshua Bishop Wednesday, but announced no decision.
The board's decision is expected Thursday. The board could grant or deny clemency or issue a 90-day stay to further consider the case.
Bishop is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison near Jackson.
He was convicted of murder and armed robbery in 1996 in the Baldwin County slaying of Leverett Morrison.
In Georgia, the parole board has the sole constitutional authority to commute a death sentence to life with the
possibility of parole or to life without the possibility of parole.
