Bibb sheriff's report: Macon woman's ex-boyfriend shot seeking revenge in burglary
A 34-year-old Macon man was shot in the leg Monday afternoon after getting caught in his ex-girlfriend's bedroom.
At about 2:15 p.m., Blake Elliot Herman was discovered inside the woman's house in the 4500 block of Jones Road, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
Herman's ex-girlfriend's brother heard a noise in her bedroom and found him standing in the doorway.
After the two fought, Herman ran out of the back door, and the brother followed with a gun.
When Herman reached into his pocket, the man fired twice, hitting him in the upper left leg, the release said.
Deputies arrived to find the man standing over Herman with a gun, which he dropped immediately at a deputy's command.
When asked by a deputy what he was doing at the house, Herman, who was dressed in all black and wearing clear gloves on his hands, said "I was seeking revenge on his sister," according to an incident report from the sheriff's office. Herman told the deputies that his ex-girlfriend had given him a key when they dated, the report said.
A deputy noticed a gray stocking mask on the ground near Herman, who asked if an ambulance was on the way, the report said.
The woman said they dated in August 2014, but she had never given him a key, the report said. She told deputies the last time she saw him was August 2015 when the two started working for the same employer.
Herman's blue Ford Focus was found parked nearby at Rutland High School.
Herman was in stable condition Tuesday at Medical Center, Navicent Health, and will be booked into the Bibb County jail on a burglary charge once he is released.
