Man shot in the back in Macon's Fort Hill neighborhood

A 35-year-old man was wounded in the back early Monday in a shooting near the intersection of Cochran Avenue and Bowman Street near the Fort Hawkins cemetery.

Bibb County sheriff's deputies found Kelly Woodford near some abandoned apartments just before 1 a.m. Monday, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Woodford was in stable condition at the Medical Center, Navicent Health.
