Arrest made in September slaying of Macon woman

A 40-year-old man was charged with murder Tuesday in the killing of a Macon woman last September at her Gray Highway apartment.

Willis Deterra Roberts was arrested in Macon's Fort Hill neighborhood just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday by Bibb County sheriff's investigators and the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Regional Fugitive Task Force, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Roberts was questioned Tuesday by detectives about the Sept. 5 slaying of 35-year-old Crystal Walker. Roberts was later taken to the county jail and booked on the murder charge. Bond has not yet been set.

Late last summer, Walker was found by family members in the Glenwood Village Apartments at 1420 Gray Highway, according to the release.
