Bibb teacher wanted on charges of child cruelty

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has issued a warrant for a 63-year-old teacher after he allegedly tackled a 14-year-old student, breaking his arm, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

William E. Wright III, a teacher at Elam Elementary School, is wanted on charges of cruelty to children in the first degree in connection with the January incident. Wright is a black male who is 6 feet tall and weighs 250 pounds. He is currently employed at the Bibb County Board of Education, the release said.

The school reported the assault to the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services on Jan. 26, and the sheriff's office was notified Feb. 24 by a DFACS employee who wanted to make sure law enforcement was notified, the release said.

Anyone with information about Wright's whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff's office at 751-7500 or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
