Bibb deputy charged with assault, false imprisonment
A Bibb County sheriff's deputy was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and false imprisonment, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Jeffery Brian Prestridge, 34, was investigated by internal affairs after an incident on Oct. 30 involving his girlfriend, according to the release. Prestridge is accused of confining her by not allowing her to leave his home. When the woman tried to gather her personal belongings and leave, Prestridge threw her on the bed, choking and kicking her, the release said.
Prestridge was found to be in violation of sheriff's office policies and was fired by Sheriff David Davis on Tuesday afternoon.
