Bibb County residents warned of phone scam

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office says someone is calling people claiming to be from the sheriff's office and demanding payment for fines and other court matters.

The caller may ask for some type of payment card or other financial tools to pay, according to a sheriff's office release.

In fact, the release stated, no law enforcement officer or court representative would phone a person asking for payment of any kind. Any such call should be immediately reported the sheriff's office at 478-750-7500. Anyone seeking additional information about any type of phone scam can call the sheriff's outreach section at 478-803-2710.
