ABC News names Bibb deputies "Persons of the Week" for helping bullied boy

The kindness of three Bibb County deputies will get national attention Friday on ABC World News Tonight when they will be named "Persons of the Week."

As the Telegraph first reported Monday, a deputy responded Saturday to 9-year-old Adam Flowers' house after a 16-year-old girl was picking on him because of his worn out tennis shoes.

Deputy Trinicholas Carswell talked to the boy's grandmother, Carolyn Taylor, and learned the "A" student at Vineville Academy had been being bullied.

Carswell enlisted the help of Cpl. Timothy Jones and Deputy Jeff Howell and the three purchased a new pair of Air Jordan tennis shoes for the boy and returned to the apartment.

Adam put the shoes on and "ran around the room in joy," according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

The tribute is expected to appear during the news broadcast at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
