Two arrested, one flees after east Macon shooting

A family birthday party at house in east Macon was interrupted by gunfire Tuesday night after an attendee's ex-girlfriend drove by the house with two others, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Sixteen people, ranging in age from 1 to 67 years old, were gathered in a house in the Fort Hill neighborhood to celebrate a family member's 44th birthday, according to an incident report from the sheriff's office. Deputies located the suspects before being alerted to the shooting, according to the report.

Just before 11:30 p.m., a deputy passed a white Ford Focus with no headlights whizzing down Cowan Street.

When the vehicle stopped, one person ran away toward Woolfolk Street. While the deputy was running background checks on the two other occupants, 19-year-old Tylir Laron Kendall and 20-year-old Leandra Mychelle Robinson, deputies were alerted to the shooting on Maynard Street. Robinson and Kendall were arrested and each is charged with 16 counts of aggravated assault.

A woman at the party told deputies that she was outside in her car when she saw Robinson, her cousin's ex-girlfriend, drive by the house twice before someone in the car opened fire, striking the house multiple times and the woman's car once, according to the report.

Robinson's ex-girlfriend told deputies she and Robinson had a bad breakup and the two had an argument that came to blows a few hours before the shooting, according to the report.

There were no serious injuries, but a 28-year-old woman had a small cut on her neck and told deputies she was grazed by a bullet. Six shell casings were collected and a bullet was extracted from a wall inside the house, according to the report.

The third suspect remains at large and the crime is being investigated.
