Central State Prison employee arrested, charged with violating oath of office

A corrections officer at Central State Prison was arrested Friday and charged with violation of oath by a public officer and giving contraband to inmates.

Chandra Salom Brown of Macon is accused of bringing wire cutters into the prison Friday morning "in an attempt to obtain for, procure for, or to give to an inmate," according to the arrest warrant. Brown was booked in the Bibb County jail about 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Brown posted a $8,230 bail bond on Saturday and was released about 4:15 p.m., according to Bibb County jail records.
