Two out-of-state people face multiple drug charges following Bibb County traffic stop
An Indiana woman and a Florida man face multiple drug charges after a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy discovered 15 pounds of marijuana, pills and a weapon in their car following a traffic stop, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Heather Hefner, of Evansville, Indiana, was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 475 about 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to the release. A deputy smelled the odor of marijuana coming from her car, and while talking with the 40-year-old woman, saw a butane torch and a bong in the vehicle, the release said.
In addition to the marijuana and 100 Xanax pills, a search of the car revealed marijuana butter known as “DAB”, various other drug paraphernalia items and a semi-automatic handgun.
Hefner and her passenger, Gilberto Acevedo-Perez, 46, from Orlando, Florida, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of schedule III drugs, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of schedule I drugs and trafficking illegal drugs, the release said. Hefner also was charged with speeding.
During a search of Hefner at the jail, a deputy found $3,150 in cash inside her undergarments, the release said.
Bond was denied for both.
