Fourth suspect charged in Bibb sheriff's office warrant clerk's slaying
A 16-year-old boy arrested Thursday night in the slaying of a Bibb County Sheriff's Office warrant clerk stood in front of a judge Friday morning for his first court hearing.
Addonis Rhodes is charged with murder in the Oct. 27, 2015, death of Vernard Mays, 23, at his home on Macon's Second Street. Mays was fatally shot while answering his door.
Three other teens -- Jadarien Shamar Flowers, 19, Michael Dewayne Hardy Jr., 19, and Drayson MacDonald, 16 -- have previously been charged in the case.
Rhodes stood quietly wearing a Department of Juvenile Justice jacket as he listed to the judge explain his rights during the hearing.
No bond was set.
Rhodes was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday by Bibb County Sheriff's Office gang investigators and members of the U.S. Marshals Southeastern Fugitive Task Force, according to a sheriff's office news release.
He is being held at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
