Milledgeville woman stabbed in home invasion

A Milledgeville woman who awoke to find a stranger in her home early Saturday morning was stabbed by a man with a knife.

The woman told police she heard a noise in her Moore Street home before 2 a.m. and got up to check on her children, according to an incident report from the Milledgeville Police Department. She walked into the kitchen where she discovered a stranger wielding a steak knife, according to the report.

The woman screamed for her husband, which scared the intruder who fled, according to the report. The woman's husband found her on the floor with a knife stuck in her abdomen. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The intruder was described as a stocky black male a little more than 6 feet tall who had silver dental work on his bottom teeth and a chipped tooth. She said the man was wearing green and orange tennis shoes, blue jeans and a black stocking hat. The woman said the attacker did not speak to her.

The case is under investigation. Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the attacker is asked to call the department's anonymous tip line at 478-414-4413.
