Up to $10,000 reward offered after Macon man found shot to death in burning car

The Georgia Arson Hotline will pay up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a Bibb County homicide.

On Dec. 22, the body of 43-year-old Deleon Wiley Hudson was found inside a burning 2002 Nissan Xtera on Lakeshore Drive in east Macon.

Firefighters found a burning cloth stuck into the opening of the gas tank and Hudson dead inside the brown SUV.

Hudson suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head, but he had no burns on his body, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said.

"The fire department got there so quick the car didn't have time to burn up," Jones said Wednesday.

Anyone who knows who set the car on fire is encouraged to leave an anonymous tip at 800-282-5804 to be eligible for the reward.

Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME also pays rewards for information in serious crimes.

Macon-Bibb County Fire Department's arson investigators and Bibb County sheriff's deputies are investigating the case.
