Man beaten, robbed while looking at used car in Macon

A 35-year-old man interested in looking at a used car for sale was beaten and robbed late Tuesday night in the Payne City neighborhood of Macon-Bibb County.

The man was meeting someone on Davis Street when two other men arrived and demanded money, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded about 11:45 p.m. to Short Street at Brigham Street, where the man had been beaten in the head with a gun before the thieves ran off with his money and cellphone.

They dropped his wallet as they fled.

The victim was treated and released from the Medical Center, Navicent Health.
