Woman shot, robbed while working in east Macon restaurant
A 64-year-old woman working at Ole Times Buffet on Gray Highway was shot just before 9 p.m. Sunday night.
Darlene Conyer was approached by two masked men who reportedly assaulted her and took her work apron before shooting her in her stomach, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. The men, both wearing dark clothing, ran from the eatery towards Shurling Drive, according to the release.
Conyer was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition, according to the release.
"It was a personal armed robbery, not a business armed robbery," said Lt. Randy Gonzales, public information officer for the sheriff's office.
The men made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and Conyer's apron, Gonzales said.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 751-7500 and ask to leave a message for the on-call investigator, or call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
