Macon mother charged with murder in infant son's death
A Macon mother was charged with murder Monday in the April death of her infant son.
KaUndre Sharde Orr, 24, of Elkan Avenue, also is charged with cruelty to children, according to Bibb County jail records.
Deputies responded to a 911 call at about 4:20 p.m. April 20 at a home on Cypress Drive and found 5-month-old Alexander Carr unresponsive.
Orr told authorities she put the baby down for a nap in his crib before lying down for a nap herself in the same room, according to the sheriff's office.
She said she got up about 10 minutes later and Carr was unresponsive, according to the sheriff's office.
The baby was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health where he was pronounced dead, according to arrest warrants signed Dec. 16.
An autopsy showed Carr suffered "blunt impact injuries" to his torso, head and neck. He also had a liver hemorrhage and a healing liver laceration, rib fractures, a hemorrhage of testicular tissue, healing abrasions, a hemorrhage on his neck and several other injuries, according to the warrants.
The doctor performing the autopsy told law enforcement the injuries were due to assaults over a period of time, according to the warrants.
Orr was the child's primary caretaker, according to the warrants.
Orr is being held at the county jail without bond, according to jail records.
