$1,000 reward offered for suspect's arrest in Tootie Roberts' killing
Macon Regional Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect in the gang-related, drive-by shooting of 14-year-old Ta'shuntis "Tootie" Roberts on Dec. 13.
Arrest warrants were issued Friday for 18-year-old Terrance Hampton after Bibb County sheriff's gang investigators searched his home at 4011 Shearwater Drive, according to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office news release. He is sought on charges of murder and aggravated assault.
Sheriff's investigators for the Gang Unit and Violent Crimes Unit discovered that Roberts' house was targeted in an act of retaliation for a previous shooting, according to the release.
Investigators think that Hampton was holding one of Ta'Shuntis' brothers and his close friends responsible for a previous violent act. The brother was not named by authorities. Hampton reported his house was shot at the day before Tootie was killed.
Anyone with information about Hampton's whereabouts is asked to call 751-7500 and tell dispatchers where he is, or report anonymous tips to Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
