Macon man arrested after woman's facial bones broken in alleged rape

A Macon man faces multiple charges after a woman reported being beaten and raped Tuesday night in a West Napier Avenue apartment.

Joseph Maurice Meredith, 42, is accused of forcing the woman into his car, taking her to the apartment, breaking bones in her face and raping her, according to the arrest warrant.

He also is accused of taking her money and cell phone before making her leave the apartment without her clothes, the warrant stated.

Meredith is charged with rape, kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated sexual battery, according to jail records.

He was arrested Wednesday and was being held without bond Thursday afternoon in the Bibb County jail.
