Islamic Center of Macon vandalized

The Islamic Center of Macon was vandalized over the weekend.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office incident report, sometime between 8 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, someone left graffiti markings on windows, walls and a door at the back of the center. The word "terrorist," some expletives and a phallic symbol were among the markings.

A member of the center reported the vandalism, the report said.

Surveillance footage from a security camera at the center, located at 2131 Vineville Ave., was turned over to the sheriff's office.

Attempts to reach someone from the center were unsuccessful Monday.

There had been no arrests in the case as of late Monday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
