Deputies arrest man inside Macon business, charge him with burglary

Bibb County sheriff’s deputies discovered a 35-year-old man inside a downtown Macon business Wednesday night while responding to a burglary call.

Deputies arrested Kenneth Bernard Mays inside Downtown Motors on Second Street just before 10 p.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The business had been ransacked, and deputies discovered the front door was damaged from being forced open, according to the release. There was visible damage to the alarm system.

Mays was charged with burglary and a probation violation, and he is being held in the Bibb County jail without bond, according to the release.

The incident is under investigation, and anyone with information about it is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 751-7500 and leave a message for the on-call property investigator.
