Suspect fleeing Pleasant Hill shooting fires toward Bibb deputy in Macon
Law enforcement officers converged on Pleasant Hill after a deputy reported shots fired toward him Monday night.
At about 9:45 p.m., the patrolman was driving down Rogers Avenue when he heard gunfire, Lt. Randy Gonzalez said.
As people were running away from near Grier Street, a man with what appeared to be a gun was fleeing from the uniformed officer, who identified himself as a deputy, Gonzalez said.
The man ran into the woods, the deputy followed and heard gunshots fired in his direction.
Georgia State Patrol troopers and other deputies rushed to the scene.
A Georgia Department of Corrections tracking dog looked, but could not find the suspect, Gonzalez said.
The gunman was described as a slender black man wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
Anyone with information in the shooting is urged to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
