Arrest made in domestic hostage incident in Macon
A man was arrested early Saturday in what authorities described as a domestic hostage incident in Macon.
Caleb Jordan Eubanks, 26, was charged with aggravated assault/family violence, kidnapping/family violence, rape and child cruelty after the 1:30 a.m. incident on West Ridge Circle, a Bibb County Sheriff's Office news release said.
According to the news release, Eubanks had gotten into a dispute with his girlfriend, assaulted her and then left. When he returned to the residence, he let her leave but would not let her take their daughter, age 6, and her son, age 2. He had a shotgun.
Bibb County sheriff's hostage negotiators and a special weapons and tactical team responded to the scene. Negotiators, with the help of a Macon-Bibb County 911 dispatcher, were able to get Eubanks to release both children without incident.
But Eubanks refused to leave the home. The tactical team next went in and took Eubanks into custody, the release said.
He was taken for medical treatment for taking medications in an attempt to harm himself, the release said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
