Former McRae federal prison guard sentenced to prison
A former federal prison guard assigned to the Correctional Institution in McRae was sentenced last week to serve six months in federal prison for her role in a conspiracy to take marijuana into the prison for an inmate, according to a news release issued Thursday.
Anna Marie McDonald, 57, of McRae, must also serve three years of supervised release after her prison term, according to the release.
McDonald, agreed through text messages to provide marijuana to an inmate in December 2014 in exchange for money, according to the release.
Evidence also showed she had smuggled alcohol and cigarettes into the facility in the past for inmates, who each were convicted of receiving contraband in prison and were sentenced last month to six months in prison followed by a year of supervised release, according to the release.
