13-year-old Macon boy charged with 2 counts of armed robbery

Bibb County investigators charged a 13-year-old boy with two counts of armed robbery Monday in the weekend robbery of two other teens.

The two victims, both 15 years old, were walking from a store on Dent Street when they were approached by two males, 18-year-old James Allen and the 13-year-old, who were riding in a Dodge Durango, authorities said.

One of the teens in the car pointed a pistol at the 15-year-olds and took several items from them, according to a news release.

Deputies found the Durango soon afterward and later found Allen with the 13-year-old. No one was injured in the incident.

Allen, of Macon, was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, underage possession of a handgun, cruelty to children, and possession of marijuana, according to the release.

The 13-year-old, whose name was not released, initially was turned over to a relative. Investigators then picked him up Monday afternoon and took him to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 and ask to leave a message for the on-call investigator.
