Facebook post may have triggered Macon shooting
A fight in a neighborhood off Macon's Houston Avenue that left a man shot in the leg may have been prompted by a post on social media.
A Bibb County sheriff's report of the noon-hour episode Saturday on Grenada Terrace noted that 27-year-old Ramone Williams was wounded after someone marched up and asked him, "What the (expletive) did you put that on Facebook for?"
Williams was treated at a city hospital, and on Monday authorities were thought to be still searching for the gunman. The sheriff's report doesn't say what was in the supposed Facebook post.
Witnesses told investigators that shortly after 12:30 p.m., a car with five people inside cruised past 705 Grenada Terrace, just east of Houston Avenue, roughly halfway between Eisenhower Parkway and Rocky Creek Road.
The car circled back, the five people got out and one of them confronted Williams, the sheriff's report said.
"At that point, a fight broke out between (Williams), his friends and the passengers from the vehicle," the report said. "(Williams) ended up on the ground fighting another individual when one of the passengers from the vehicle walked over and shot (Williams) in the leg."
