Macon man sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2014 fatal crash
A 30-year-old Macon man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday in connection with a 2014 fatal traffic crash.
Aaron Nathaniel Hendley pleaded guilty Friday to vehicular homicide and serious injury by vehicle, prosecutor John Regan said. His trial in Bibb County Superior Court was set to begin next week.
Hendley also was sentenced to 10 years on probation.
Then 30-year-old Priscilla Smith was driving her fiance, 33-year-old Patrick Howard, to work about 3:30 a.m. May 25, 2014, when a Range Rover crossed the center line on Columbus Road near Ivey Drive and Middle Georgia State University and struck her Chevrolet Suburban.
Howard, the front seat passenger in the Suburban, died at the scene, Regan said.
Smith lost a portion of a leg as a result of the crash. Authorities said two young children also were injured.
Hendley, the driver of the Range Rover, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. While there, a blood-alcohol test was administered.
His blood-alcohol level measured 0.208, more than double the legal limit to drive, Regan said.
