Burglary suspect caught in Macon neighborhood

A burglary in progress call led to two people being arrested for multiple break-ins around Macon's Morgan Drive, not far from Freedom Park.

Just after 10:30 p.m. Monday, deputies caught one man and chased another in the 3400 block of Austin Place where the burglary was reported, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

A short time later, someone in the 3400 block of Hillcrest Avenue reported seeing the second man, who was found hiding in a backyard in the 3600 block of Morgan Drive.

Authorities charged 19-year-old Mecarieo Peek and a 16-year-old whose identity was not released due to his age.

Deputies learned of two other home break-ins and four entering autos on Morgan Drive and charged the men in all seven cases.
