Vineville food mart robbed early Friday

An armed bandit held up a Vineville Avenue convenience mart early Friday and made off with money from the store's cash register.

The stickup happened about 1:30 a.m. at the Flash Foods at the intersection of Vineville and Forest Hill Road in Macon.

Bibb County sheriff's officials said in a news release that the culprit was "brandishing a revolver" when he "demanded the clerk give him the money from the cash drawer."

Authorities didn't say how much cash was taken. The holdup man, who had on a gray sweatshirt, got away.
