Worker struck in hit-and-run on Forest Hill Road

One of the men working on the Forest Hill Road widening project was struck by a vehicle Thursday.

Lewis Rodriguez-Jimenez, 21, was working on the shoulder of the road near Oak Hill Court when a gray or silver Nissan hit him. Witnesses indicated that the vehicle swerved in his direction, although the reason for the change in path was unclear, said Bibb County Sheriff's Office spokesman Randy Gonzalez.

"The vehicle left the scene, didn't stop," Gonzalez said.

Rodriguez-Jimenez was taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, to be checked out and treated for "visible injuries to his arm."

Anyone with information related to the incident can call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
