Masked men try to rob north Macon convenience store

A north Macon convenience store clerk freed herself from the clutches of a gunman to thwart an early Monday morning robbery.

Just after midnight, two masked men with guns tried to rob the Circle K at 3802 Northside Drive by demanding money from the clerk, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

A gunman wearing an orange ski mask, dark hooded jacked and blue jeans grabbed the woman by her clothes, but she got away and tried to call 911 on her cellphone.

The gunman tried to open the cash register, but couldn’t.

He left on foot with a second gunman who was guarding the door. The other man was described as a man in a mask, who was wearing dark clothes, the release said.

The clerk was not hurt, and both gunmen got away.
