Two corrections deputies at the Bibb County jail were arrested and fired Monday for their alleged actions with inmates.

DeAngelo Devon Dixon, 27, is charged with misdemeanor solicitation of sodomy and violation of oath of office by an officer, and Rogers Lane Zellner, 38, was charged with trading with inmates without the consent of the warden or superintendent.

“It is a shame that these men decided to violate the oath they swore to uphold,” Sheriff David Davis said in a news release. “Fortunately the dedicated and capable investigators from our office and the (district attorney’s) office made sure these wrongdoers were identified and arrested.”

Dixon allegedly got the phone number of a woman from an inmate, and he then met with her at a local hotel, where he received oral sex for payment, according to the release. That also violated various sheriff’s office policies.

He had been employed by the sheriff’s office about three years.

Zellner reportedly received payment from an unidentified man to pass cellphone chargers to an inmate at the Bibb County jail, where Zellner had been working about four years. That also was a violation of multiple sheriff’s office policies.

An internal investigation by the sheriff’s office identified the policy violations by the two deputies, who had been on paid suspension since the middle of September. The criminal investigation was conducted by sheriff’s office and district attorney investigators.
