Macon man charged with shooting man who flagged down bus for help

Bibb County investigators arrested 26-year-old Dalonza Lee Dupree in connection with the shooting of 23-year-old Michael Gribble on Tuesday morning, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Gribble flagged down a Macon Transit Authority bus driver just before 7:30 a.m. after being shot in the stomach.

Gribble told investigators he was in the back seat and riding with two others when they got into an argument. The driver pulled over, and the man in the front passenger seat got out, shot Gribble and ran away with the driver.

Investigators and members of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit arrested Dupree about 3:40 p.m. Thursday at a north Macon apartment complex.

Dupree was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of cocaine.
