Two charged with passing fake money at Smiley’s

Two men were arrested Saturday for allegedly passing counterfeit bills at Smiley’s Flea Market.

Bibb County deputies were called to Smiley’s at about noon after a seller reporter that a man was buying items with fake money, according to a sheriff’s office release.

The seller pointed out the man, who was sitting in a vehicle with another man that flea market workers also alleged had passed phony bills, the release stated.

Billy Wayne Brown, 56, of Bonaire, and David Wayne Powers, 61, of Byron, were charged with 10 counts of forgery. Bond was set at $29,000 each.
