Macon burglary suspect arrested, charged
A Macon homeowner arrived home about 1 p.m. Friday to find a man emerging from the front door, carrying a black bag.
The 18-year-old ran off when the Fountain Drive resident confronted him. The resident chased the man to a house on Alma Drive, about a mile away in south Bibb County, where he was later apprehended by Bibb County deputies, according to a release.
The teen, Kareem Vontez Zellner, was charged with burglary and jailed with an $8,450 bond.
Before Zellner’s capture, schools in the area were notified of the incident. Heard and Porter elementary schools, Rutland High School and Windsor Academy are located near the homes on Fountain and Alma drives.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call deputies at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
