Macon homeowner nabs burglary suspect
A homeowner helped catch a burglary suspect early Monday afternoon.
On the way to a call on Forest Place, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies learned that homeowner Dwayne King had detained 20-year-old Andrew Angus Haas of Summersville, West Virginia, as he tried to flee the residence, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
“He actually had my clothes on, and I grabbed him by the shirt,” King said.
At that point, Haas sat down on the couch while King, who had enlisted the help of his roommate, called authorities.
“We didn’t hold the guy against his will,” King said. “He just gave up.”
Haas has no local residence and is considered homeless, according to sheriff’s office records.
King said that as far as he could tell, he had recovered all of his belongings from Haas, including the clothes.
“I don’t have much; I’m not going to let you walk out the door with it,” he said.
Hass was later charged with burglary, with a bond set at $8,450.
