A Macon man charged with murder is in the custody of the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office after being extradited from Florida.
Bibb sheriff’s investigators issued a murder warrant for Russell Rogers, 38, after 58-year-old Sammie Williams, of Baxter Avenue, was found dead Sept. 5. Williams’ badly decomposed body was found in a house on Roy Street, marking Bibb County’s 20th homicide of the year.
Rogers was arrested driving Williams’ car after a short chase with the Florida Highway Patrol. Rogers also was caught with other items belonging to the victim.
