Last Wings Cafe killing suspect arrested in South Carolina
The final man sought in the Dec. 12 fatal shootout at Wings Cafe has been apprehended.
Tavarus Antwone Coney was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. Friday in Hilton Head, S.C., according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Coney is charged with murder, aggravated assault and violation of Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, according to the sheriff’s office.
He went into hiding after his June indictment in the case, but was located by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force at an associate’s house, according to the release.
Pending the outcome of an extradition hearing, Coney will return to Georgia to stand trial.
Eleven men have been charged in the case. Seven of them are accused of murder. A trial is set for October.
Authorities have said Derrick Jackson, 38, Corey Hollingshed, 25, and George Henley, 34, were fatally shot at the Bloomfield Drive nightspot in an exchange of gunfire between two rival gangs.
A woman was shot several times, but she survived.
