Macon woman cited for animal cruelty

A 24-year-old Macon woman was cited for animal cruelty after a mother dog was found tethered Saturday without food and water along with her 10 pups at a south Macon residence.

One of Destiny Goodwin’s Facebook friends told authorities that Goodwin posted online that she had a dog and 10 puppies she was giving away due to moving somewhere that doesn’t allow pets, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Goodwin’s friend took it upon herself to check on the dogs and discovered nine alive without food or water in a wooded corner of a property in the 3300 block of Sandra Fay Drive, according to the report.

Two of the 10 pups ultimately died.

An officer called Goodwin, who said she was moving to a place that didn’t allow pets and that “she was planning to take the animals with her ... because she (was) unable to find a caretaker for the animals,” according to the report.

Goodwin provided authorities with a Dellwood Drive address but maintained she was still living on Sandra Fay Drive while preparing to move, according to the report.

The dogs were taken by Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare, and Goodwin was cited for animal cruelty, according to the report. She is set to appear in court Oct. 23.
