Macon man tased Sunday during large downtown fight
A 31-year-old man was tased early Sunday after a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy says the man would not leave the area of a large downtown Macon fight involving 200 people.
The man was tased about 3:15 a.m. after deputies were called to Martin Luther King Boulevard between Poplar and Cherry Streets because of the fight, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report. A deputy noted that the suspect ignored several orders to leave the area while many people in the crowd continued to fight, according to the incident report.
The deputy used the Taser as the Macon resident approached another person at the back of a car.
The man was taken to jail on a disorderly conduct charge and for an unrelated traffic offense. He did not complain of any injuries at the time of booking, the report said.
