One killed, another injured in Jeffersonville Road shooting
One man was killed and another injured in a shooting on Jeffersonville Road late Friday night.
The two men were in the area of Red Carpet Inn at about 11:19 p.m. when an unknown male shot them, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release. Brandon Harris, 29, of Chicago, was pronounced dead at Coliseum Medical Center a short time later.
Riley Jackson, 27, of Macon, was also shot and taken to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, where he is listed in stable condition.
Saturday morning, a man cleaning at the Red Carpet Inn, who identified himself as the manager but declined to give his name, said the shooting happened in front of the Sunoco station next door.
He said Jackson and Jackson’s girlfriend were staying at the motel. After the shooting, he said, Jackson came back to the motel room and his girlfriend ran into the lobby asking for help.
The manager said he heard shots, but couldn’t tell how many because he was watching TV at the time and had the volume turned up. He said another person at the motel described hearing several shots in succession, followed by a pause and then several more shots.
