A man wanted for a July murder in Macon was arrested in Virginia on Wednesday.
Steve Anthony Fort, 20, was located in Suffolk after U.S. Marshals in Georgia contacted colleagues in the area that he may be hiding there. The agency’s Fugitive Task Force surrounded the home of Fort’s friend in Suffolk and arrested Fort at 3:30 p.m.
Warrants had been issued for Fort in connection with the shooting death of Javoris Butler, 29, who died at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, from multiple wounds received in a July 21 incident outside Pendleton Homes on Houston Avenue.
Fort will be held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Virginia while awaiting extradition to Georgia.
